Hi! Today I’ll show you how to make your own stamp! It’s easier than it looks so I hope you’ll give it a try and tell me how it goes 🙂
First, here are the materials you’ll need:
*I used Speedball Speedy-Cut Carving Block that I got from Michael’s, but you can buy them online here. *an eraser will also work*
*Lino Cutters can be purchased at your local craft store or online here.
Okay…now let’s get started…
1.) Draw the design you want on a blank piece of paper. The dark lines are what is going to show up so be ready to carve out all the white areas.
3.) Transfer your design onto your carving block by pressing down and burnishing it.
4.) Take your X-acto knife and carve along the lines at a 30-45 degree angle, do the same for the other side, trying to meet the cuts you already made, this will create a clean cut along your lines. Watch my video to see how it works.
If you have a Lino Cutter, this is easier if you’re a beginner, use the V-shaped tool to go around your design.
5.) Cut, cut, cut…
You can cut off the sides when you are finished or even fit them onto wooden blocks.
6.) Take an ink pad and press down lightly onto the stamp. I recommend placing the ink pad over the stamp rather than pressing the stamp onto the ink. I find that this keeps my hands a lot cleaner and the ink only
(I messed up on the tail and decided not to include the words 😛 )
